Spinal Decompression Q&A

What is spinal decompression?

Spinal decompression, also called disc rehydration therapy or computerized mechanical traction, is a treatment to ease back and neck pain without surgery.

At Focused Pain Relief, Dr. Foreit uses the state-of-the-art FDA-cleared DRX9000 True Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression system to successfully relieve pain that stems from a wide range of sources. Focused Pain Relief is one of just two practices statewide to offer both cervical (neck) and lumbar (back) nonsurgical spinal decompression.

Dr. Foreit closely monitors all patients throughout their treatment course, and DRX9000 True Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression treatment is at least 85% effective at reducing pain by 70% or more. Some patients even experience complete pain relief.

What conditions does spinal decompression therapy treat?

Spinal decompression therapy can offer remarkably effective pain relief for conditions including:

  • Bulging discs
  • Herniated disc
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Posterior facet syndrome
  • Nerve compression

DRX9000 True Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression treatment can work equally well in the cervical and lumbar spine.

How does spinal decompression work?

Spinal decompression therapy works by gently pulling to separate your vertebral discs. This restores the proper position of herniated or bulging discs and frees trapped nerves, thereby relieving the pressure causing your back or neck pain.

This disc separation also allows blood, which contains healing oxygen and nutrients, to flow into the newly created space. Then, your injuries can heal steadily over time, which prevents the pain from coming back.

The DRX9000 True Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression system allows Dr. Foreit to program-specific information (including your height, weight, and the location of your injury and pain) into the computer. The servo motor keeps the treatment course targeted specifically for your unique measurements and needs.

When will I see results from spinal decompression?

Many people feel considerably better after a few treatments. An average treatment course is 20 total treatment sessions over six weeks.

Most people have treatment five times a week for the initial two weeks, then three times weekly for the next two weeks, and finally twice-weekly treatments for the last two weeks. However, Dr. Foreit may instead recommend a four- or five-week total treatment time to help you get maximum pain relief even faster.

Most people enjoy healthier, more active, and happier lives after completing their spinal decompression treatments. To learn more, call Focused Pain Relief or click the provided link now.
